Applications for Organizing Forthcoming ICBICs
2007 January 1
Applications for organizing one of the forthcoming ICBICs (International Conferences on Biological Inorganic Chemistry) should be made to:

Professor Kenneth D. Karlin
Secretary of the ICBIC International Organizing Committee
c/o Department of Chemistry, Remsen Hall
The Johns Hopkins University
Charles & 34th Streets
Baltimore, MD 21218
U.S.A.
Email: karlin@jhu.edu

Please note that it was agreed that ICBICs should be held in this order: North America (Minnesota/ICBIC9/1999), Europe (Florence/ICBIC10/2001), a "far distant country" (Australia/ICBIC11/2003), and again North America (Ann Arbor/ICBIC12/2005), Europe (ICBIC13/2007), etc.

Applications should contain the name(s) of the main organizer(s), the location and, if possible, (a) letter(s) of (an) organisation(s) (e.g., of the chemical or biochemical society of a country, or a university/department) willing to support the event. In general, at a given ICBIC the International Organizing Committee of the ICBICs (which consists of one chair person of each previous ICBIC) meets and decides about the ICBIC to be held in six years' time. Consequently, at a given ICBIC, the organizer of the next ICBIC invites the audience to participate at the ICBIC she/he is organizing and in addition the locations of two more ICBICs are made public.

SBIC Early Career Award
2006
We invite nominations for the first SBIC Early Career Award. Nomination guidelines can be found on our SBIC Awards page.

The SBIC Early Career Award will be presented biennially at ICBICs to an early career scientist (no more than 15 years post-PhD at the nomination deadline) who has already accomplished "distinguished research in biological inorganic chemistry." To be eligible for the award, the candidate must hold SBIC membership since the prior ICBIC. The awardee will receive a US$1,000 prize and a commemorative plaque. In addition, the awardee will be invited to present the "SBIC Early Career Award Lecture" at ICBIC13. We expect this to become a highly competitive and valuable recognition of excellence in our field.
