Chief Editor, Journal of Biological Inorganic Chemistry: Call for expressions of interest

December 5, 2018

The Journal of Biological Inorganic Chemistry (JBIC) occupies a central role in our mission and activities within the Society of Biological Inorganic Chemistry, publishing our research results and providing income that we re-invest to promote our research field.  We seek a new Chief Editor in succession to Professor Larry Que, who has steered our journal with distinction for many years since taking over from Founding Editor Ivano Bertini.

The ongoing transformation of publishing towards open access to results represent a unique opportunity for our Journal to now re-position and re-fresh itself as a leading journal serving our community, raising the profile of our science and encouraging and promoting the research of our society members.  We seek a dynamic and enthusiastic editor with a commitment to the highest levels of scholarship who can engage and mobilise all of our community to support the journal in achieving new heights and distinction.

The journal is owned by the Society and published in partnership with Springer.  A significant support package is available to enable the successful applicant to undertake the role.  The new Chief Editor will report to SBIC Council, on which he/she will sit ex officio, and with the Council will select suitable associate editors and an international editorial advisory board - the Society is committed to supporting diversity in all its aspects.

The Chief Editor will take office from January 2020, and will have the opportunity to shadow the current Chief Editor, Prof Larry Que, during the transition.

Informal Enquiries may be addressed to the Society President (Prof. Sue Berners Price - s.berners-price@griffith.edu.au) or past-President (Prof. Mike Hannon - m.j.hannon@bham.ac.uk) who lead the search committee.

Expressions of interest should be submitted to Prof. Sue Berners Price by 28 February 2019 and comprise a short statement of your vision for the journal and how you will achieve that vision, together with a brief CV.
